Here are some papier mache snowmen that I made for a raffle at my son's school.
- I taped 3 balloons together with masking tape and then papier mached over the balloons, and added a base of rolled up newspaper. Then I painted them white, adding some blue shadows in the creases to make them look 3-D.
- After that I tore pieces of white tissue paper and used a watered down glue mixture to attach the tissue all over the snowmen. While the tissue was still wet with glue I sprinkled them with "diamond dust" glitter. I LOVE that stuff. It does look like snow. :o)
- After that I cut up an old sweater and used it to make the hats and scarves. I hot glued those pieces on, as well as buttons for eyes, etc.
- The last thing that I did was cut a whole in the bottom of the snowman, under the base,... with an Xacto knife. This left the bottom section hollow, so I filled it with some prizes (like a pinata) and then covered the whole back up with white tissue and glue. The raffle winners got to punch a hole in the tissue and get their prize,..AND keep the snowman. :o)
