RCCAC today :o)

Today at RCCAC we worked on finishing our color mixing, and also began a resist technique where you cover your paper with wax paper, tape it down and then do a drawing on top of the wax paper. We will remove the wax paper and paint these next week. It is a little difficult to see the drawings because my photos are a bit light, and one of my photos won't open for some reason, so there is one missing. Sorry.

I didn't do any art this weekend other than photography. We spent the weekend at beautiful Blackwater Falls in West Virginia with family.

Today my workshops for Davis Health Services employees began at Broaddus Hospital. I taught a beginning watercolor class and an intermediate watercolor class. In the beginner's class we covered tools, and brush techniques, then we spent the rest of the time working on mixing colors. We did the color wheel and the mixing design listed on Monday's post. In my second class, my intermediate students did two step by step paintings. We all began with the same source but everyone added their own elements to it, which adds personality. :o) We did a painting of skiers, and a painting of a stormy sky. I forgot to take my camera, so I will have to add photos next week, but here is my sample of the skier painting.

Today's art lessons included a giraffe colored pencil drawing and 3-D train construction. I do not have any photos of the train so far, but here are a few photos of the giraffe in progress.

Color Wheel

Workshops began at the Randolph County Community Art Center today.

My adult beginners watercolor class met first. We covered brush basics, painting techniques and color mixing. We made color wheels by ONLY using red, yellow and blue. Here is my example.












After mixing colors for our color wheels we started a new assignment. The students divided their papers into columns and rows. Then I painted the left section in each column. The students had to then decide which colors I had mixed together to get that specific color. Not only did they have to guess the colors to mix but also the amount of water to use, in order to match the intensity. Here is what we have so far. The white areas are unfinished. These paintings will be finished next week.

I had a new art student start on Saturday. :o) It is great getting new students. We had a great lesson.
